    HIT
Known, Recognised and Treated with Orgaran

A diagnosis of HIT should be considered in any patient who develops a 30 - 50% reduction in platelet count whilst on heparin18.

The more we recognise HIT, the more successfully we can treat HIT

To facilitate the diagnosis of HIT24:

  • Establish a base line level and check platelet counts at least every 48 hours
  • be aware of patient history - exposure to heparin and heparin related complications

  • Orgaran as an alternative to heparin

  • Orgaran has proven efficacy in the treatment of HIT and prophylaxis of DVT
  • Orgaran is also available subcutaneously in DVT prophylaxis
